Introducing Ada-Grace, our new Teach Me Too Ambassador!
Our newest Teach Me Too Ambassador is Ada-Grace. She’s 4 years old, and her Mum, Emma, describes her as “cheeky, determined, funny, and independent”!
While Ada-Grace is blossoming, Emma, like many other parents, was concerned about getting her access to necessary support. But she didn’t need to worry much longer, as Teach Me Too’s video and resources became a staple in Ada-Grace’s routine.
“We have been supported by Learn and Thrive via their very useful 'Teach Me Too' videos, for a while now, after struggling to financially be able to access similar support from other charities. Ada-Grace's favourite videos are the Language Through Play ones, although we have recently branched out into the Mathematics ones too!”
Sadly, Emma and Ada-Grace’s experience of struggling to find sufficient support is not unique. Many across the SEND community will be able to resonate with their story, from pressures at home, to ensuring that their child is provided with the best possible resources to support their development.
“It can often feel very overwhelming as a single parent, and sole carer, to be able to juggle all of the different therapies and activities expected of me from many different services, but the Teach Me Too clips have helped to alleviate some of this pressure by showing how easy it is to incorporate their methods into play we were already doing together.”
The Teach Me Too project is built, primarily, to support the learner, but also to take the pressure off parents, teachers, SENCOs, and more, by providing trusted, high-quality resources, which are easy to use and adapt to each individual learner.
“I like that the videos are easily accessible, are always there to repeat as often as you need, and are broken down into easy steps for both the adult to demonstrate and the child to follow. There's no pressure to move on to the next stage within a set timeframe, we just work steadily through as we please. I love that each video comes armed with a printable instruction sheet too, as I now have a little wallet of these and can easily glance and see what we've been working on and what we are progressing well with. I feel like I am making a big difference to Ada-Grace's learning and development, in a stress-free manner where the activities have already been tried, tested, and absolutely relevant for the specific learning profile of a child with Down Syndrome.”
