How is Learn and Thrive Funded?
How our services are free? What's the catch?
There is no hidden catch.
Did you realise that Learn and Thrive is a charity? It's set up by the Down's syndrome community and its supporters. We exist, entirely for the greater good, in order to provide support to our community. We’re not interested in profit or lining the pockets of our shareholders. Our priority is, and forever will be, people with Down’s syndrome, family members and others who support them. This is why we provide FREE services specifically for children and young people with Down's syndrome. This, however, means that we must access funds in order to keep this charitable operation running.
There are several ways in which we receive funds to maintain our charity. First and foremost is the support of our community through donations and fundraising events. We love to see others fundraise for Learn and Thrive. The possibilities really are endless: bake sales, marathons, pub quizzes and more in the past! It’s always a pleasure to see people doing what they love, in support of the Down’s syndrome community.
This community support has allowed us to access grants from a number of organisations that support charities and not-for-profit organisations. In actual fact, we’ve just been awarded another grant from The National Lottery Community Fund, specifically to support our new Learning for Life project. This money will go towards funding our first set of videos, along with community fundraising and vital support from our corporate supporter Quality Compliance Systems (QCS). Without this support, our services simply wouldn't be available. Here’s just a few of our incredible funders from over the years.
We appreciate each and every penny that we receive via our donations on our website from the generous general public. If you’re in a position to help, we have different options to suit you. Take a look here.
We hope that this blog post has given you more of an explanation of how we are able to run our charity to benefit those in need. If you would like to hear more, or access our resources yourself, the buttons below will help you navigate.
