New Partnership: Symbol UK

Learn and Thrive are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Symbol UK. Many of the community need no introduction to Symbol UK, but for everyone else here is a bit more information.

The image shows two children and an adult looking at a computer. The adult is in between the two children. The child on the right has Down’s syndrome. There is an overlay on the bottom part of the image, with the Teach Me Too logo on it.

Symbol UK was established in 1998, to provide speech and language therapy services to children and adults with learning difficulties. As a not-for-profit, they are a leading provider of training and syndrome specific speech and language therapy in the UK. Their Down's syndrome service is run by highly specialist therapists who have been supporting our community for many years. Our team have formed a close working relationship with Symbol UK and we feel their expert input into our Teach Me Too programme is just what is needed to keep expanding our content and reaching even more children. We believe this partnership is a great fit for our charity, and we can't wait for you all to see the final videos.

"I have personally worked closely with Symbol UK since my own daughter was very young. We were lucky to find them early in her life and be in the position to access their services. The expert advice and support my family received in those early years, not only helped my daughter, but sparked my passion to ensure all children with Down's syndrome can access specialist and evidence-based intervention. I am so pleased that the Teach Me Too project is beginning to bring their skills and expertise to children all around the UK and beyond." - Jo Aiyathurai, CEO Learn and Thrive.

As part of Teach Me Too, Symbol UK are partnering with us to deliver ‘exploring language’ videos that support children in learning language. They are specifically designed to help young children with Down's syndrome explore early language and vocabulary.

Teach Me Too is a free online library of short educational videos and learning resources, designed for early years and key stage 1 aged children with Down’s syndrome. The digital tools work best with adult support and allow for the continuation of learning at home or school. We are pleased to announce that new Teach Me Too content and new content for older children and young people (Learning for Life) will be hitting the website soon!

Gaining access to these videos is super easy. If you’re not already, sign up for Teach Me Too here and you’ll immediately gain access once they’re released. They’re expected to drop by the end of April, so keep checking in for more information!

We're truly grateful to be partnering with such an impactful and empowering organisation and hope you enjoy the free resources as much as we've enjoyed putting them together.
