Heavy and Light - Supported by TTS

We were so excited to be back filming for a new series in Teach Me Too! Not only that, but we were back with our friends at 21 Together, and some of their lovely little learners who were stars in our filming!

It’s been roughly 2 years since we released our last series, Exploring Language. Now we’re back with ‘Maths Before Numbers’, a series exploring foundational concepts like colours, same/different, heavy/light and more.

The awesome team at TTS Resources have supported this series by providing us with free resources to use in our videos! The little ones had a fantastic time using these - see Jenny playing with the TTS scales at the shop [right].

These scales were incredibly helpful in teaching the concepts of heavy and light, not only in our filming sessions, but also to our little learners and their siblings while they waited for filming to start and in between takes. Here’s Joy playing with our watermelon, feather, and marshmallow 3D modelling of the concept during a filming break.

These short sessions will be used as part of the upcoming videos to demonstrate how teaching can be done at home or in education settings.

Learners with Down’s syndrome benefit hugely from the use of modelling as part of their learning. This is partly due to the fact these learners are very good at modelling the behaviours of those around them, but also that they have such strong visual learning capabilities. Seeing the concepts modelled in 3D, then in 2D on our Resource Cards, and reinforced by assessing knowledge using our worksheets compounds these learning strengths of visual learning, modelling, and repetition.

This series of videos uses signing and Widgit symbols to support the learning and language development of the learners using the Teach Me Too content.

TTS also supplied the light-up buckets which were the perfect way to manage those cheeky moments when the kids wanted to distract the attention away from the learning. These were very popular among our little ones and kept the sessions fun and engaging for our little learners.

If you would like to purchase any of the resources TTS supplied to us:

We’re so grateful for TTS’ support in building this series.
